3d Dungeon Warrior

Action and excitement - these are the attributes of 3D Dungeon Warrior. This graphically perfect shooting game takes place in mystic mileages. In the maze of an old castle youll have to fight the devil transformed into skeletons and other monsters.

Behind the gates of a castle hidden somewhere in northland, possessed by Gravlingtons dynasty, there, in dark vaults and narrow hallways of castle's catacombs evil has hidden for the past centuries. Lord Thomas of Gravlington desires to regain the lost pride of the family's crown. After a long search for the right man to man to help him, he finally found you. It is up to you to run through the castle's hallways and vaults and destroy the evil, which has transformed into mummies, skeletons and ghosts. Only a skilled and experienced warrior like you can beat the devil. If you will make it, Lord Gravlington will lavish honors and wealth on you.

Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones

If Prince thinks he has it hard waiting for mum to shuffle off into retirement, he should try being a Prince Persia.

There, the role is less about growing organic jam and having your bum wiped by courtiers, and more about rope swinging, swordfighting and spiked-pit-leaping. Frankly, Charles would struggle. Although we reckon Camilla could probably manage it.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is the latest and best in Gameloft's middle-eastern action adventure series. It sees you performing your usual leapy fighty heroism in order to defeat an evil Vizier who's trying to steal your throne.

A welcome new inclusion in this game is the chariot racing mini-game that pops up every so often in between levels. You have to ride through the streets of Babylon (why not the rivers, we wonder?), avoiding obstacles and seeing off enemy riders. These events don't last very long, but break up the platform action nicely.

As action-platformers go on mobile phones, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is up there with the very best. It could be longer experienced gamers will rattle through it fairly quickly but the visuals and variety show that Gameloft has opted for quality rather than quantity.

Gameloft Darkest Fear 2 - Grim Oak

However, Darkest Fear 2 breaks the mould. And while it may seem nerdy to bang on about great lighting before mentioning the gameplay, it's one of the aspects that sets this spooky action-adventure apart from the crowd – and it actually affects the gameplay.

Darkest Fear 2 isone of the first mobile attempts at a survival horror game that actually succeeds in sending a chill up your spine. It takes a top-down viewpoint, and has you walking around the town solving puzzles, avoiding the monsters, and trying to figure out what those monks are up to.

Overall, this is a polished adventure game that displays true craft, from the atmospheric lighting through to the dialogue and little graphical touches. And if it scares the willies out of you along the way, so much the better.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Tom Clacy's Splinter Cell

If your name's Sam Fisher and you're the titular special ops soldier in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, anyway.

Our Sam is dropped behind enemy lines to uncover and foil a heinous terrorist plot to crash the global stock markets and overthrow the world's governments. As imposing a job as that sounds, it's all in a day's work for a Splinter Cell, a highly-trained, quasi-autonomous secret agent soldier-type.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is one of those rare games where the wounds you suffer when being shot actually will kill you. One indirect hit from an enemy rifle and you might be able to muddle through; take two bullets and you're down and staying down.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is surprisingly easy to play. Almost everything is executed with your handset's directional pad, with context-determined actions being performed when you press in a particular direction. So pressing up, for example, will variously cause you to jump a gap, leap up to grab a ledge, climb up a ladder or even clamber onto the top of a crate.

It's such a smooth, polished and considered game that the intuitive control system is the cherry-like balaclava on top of the black romper suit that is Splinter Cell's delicious dark cake.
